Summer Shows on Canvas

Summer is alive with a whole host of shows and events, and the perfect time to keep your camera handy. Agricultural shows provide a great day out and on top of this, lots of photo opportunities, especially for the animal lover.

If you want a great picture of a pet or any of your four legged friends, there's no better time to do so than at a show. They'll be scrubbed up and looking dapper for the event and this will transfer brilliantly onto a canvas. Also everyone wants to have their moment of glory captured. If you have a friend or family competing, it will make a great gift idea.

Make sure you get in early to get a good spot to work from; you don't want to be jumping up and down trying to get past a multitude of heads. Also think about the location of that spot. Think ahead, will there be action? If you're trying to capture some dog agility, find a spot close to the obstacles to get some great movement shots. What direction have they been favouring and also carefully consider the background. It's preferable to have a greener background, as will really compliment the feel of the shot. Messy background of marquees and trailers can make for a distracting photo, not so great for canvas.

Shows are a great place to get a variety of shots as well. There's always a mix of still and movement, so you can get some great action shots for example with dog agility and show jumping. But you can also capture some up close character shots as well as some delightful candid moments between animal and owner.
